Questions, answered.
The things business owners ask most about getting a custom app. Don’t see yours? Ask me.
How much does a custom app cost?
Every app is quoted as one fixed project price after a short call, based on what your app needs to do. You’ll know the full price and what’s included before anything starts. No hourly billing.
Do I need to change my booking system?
No. Your app opens the booking system you already use, so classes, packages, memberships and payments stay exactly where they are.
Whose name is on the App Store?
Yours. The app is published from your own Apple Developer account, under your business name. I walk you through setting it up.
Does it replace my website?
No, it works alongside it. Your website is for people finding you. Your app is for the people who already love you and come back every week.
How long does it take?
It depends on the app, and your proposal includes a timeline. You’ll see your app on your own iPhone through Apple’s TestFlight well before launch.
What kinds of businesses do you build apps for?
Mostly studios, spas, clinics and premium service businesses: places where clients book, visit and come back. If that sounds like you, an app can work for you.
Do you build Android apps?
No. I specialize in native Apple apps, written in Swift for iPhone and iPad. That focus is what lets every screen feel right.
What do I need to provide?
Your logo, brand colors, photos, any videos, and the text you want in the app, like class descriptions or treatment details. I’ll send a simple checklist.
Do I need an Apple Developer account?
Yes. Your app is published from your own account so it carries your business name. Apple charges $99 a year. I walk you through setting it up and adding me to it.
Can I see the app before it launches?
Yes. You’ll see mockups before the build starts, and then install the real app on your own iPhone through Apple’s TestFlight.
How many changes can I make?
Two rounds of design revisions are included. Additional changes are simple to arrange.
Can you guarantee Apple approves the app?
Apple reviews every app and makes the final decision, so no developer can guarantee it. I build to Apple’s guidelines, and I stay with your submission until it’s approved.
Who owns the app?
You do, once it’s paid for. It’s published under your Apple Developer account and your business name.
What happens after launch?
Launch includes a 30-day warranty for fixes. After that, an optional care plan covers updates for new iPhones and iOS releases, bug fixes and content updates each quarter.
What does the “Designed & built by Joey Rochlin” line in an app mean?
It’s the credit in the settings of apps I’ve made for businesses. Tapping it brings you here, in case you’d like an app of your own.
Do you work with businesses outside California?
Yes. I’m based in Santa Barbara and work with businesses across the United States, by phone, email and video call.
Tell me about your business.
Send a few lines about what you do. I’ll reply with ideas for your app and mockups of what it could look like.
